The hormones of pregnancy have alot to do with hair and nail growth, and the vitamins are formulated to support the growing baby, so they are probably not the best thing to take when not pregnant.
GNC has a supplement called "Nourishair" that makes the hair grow faster, you can read what's in it by googling it. Be warned these pills are HUGE and you have to take 2 a day.
Also ProCaps labs sells a "hair skin and nails" formula that does the same thing, supports hair growth and health, and is smaller and easier to swallow.
If you take only Biotin alone, make sure you take at least 2.5 milligrams or 2500 micrograms [the same thing] a day because thats' a good amount to take. I use the Nourishair supplement from GNC now and my hair is growing faster than it did, but it took about 6 to 8 weeks of daily use to see results

There are not any unfavourable undesirable outcomes in taking prenatal supplementations if you're not to any extent further pregnant. see you later as you do not take more beneficial than one an afternoon, you need to be nice. you'll surely be somewhat fit from each and each of the supplementations. docs propose that if you're making plans a being pregnant, to start up taking prenatal supplementations some months or so previous to attempting to conceive. This a great deal reduces the prospect for beginning defects. i think it really is continually a sturdy theory to confer consisting of your healthcare professional about your particular challenge for the reason that he/she is common consisting of your clinical historic previous.

Yes I've taken them and yes it helps. You need to have good nutrition and drink plenty of water to have healthy hair. It's also important to get regular (every 6-8 weeks) trims and use a good conditioner every time you wash your hair. I also suggest using a wide tooth comb to brush our your hair after washing. It will result in less breakage.

Yep they work alright. A friend of mine had three months to hurry up and grow her hair for a wedding and she started taking prenatal vitamins (perscribed) and she her hair really grew as well as her nails. So yes they work and i took them while I was pregant and I had to go almost every month to trim my hair and keep up with my roots... (you know hair color)
