A Friend will tell you the Truth to help you.
An Enemy will tell you the Truth to hurt you.
Either way the Truth will set you Free.

Being ready to hear an answer that we really need to hear, even though it may not be what we want to hear, is very important. If someone cares enough about us to give us the answer that they believe that we need to hear, should make us love them more. For most of the time they realize, that it may hurt our feelings; or cause us to be upset for a while. Yet they know that it is for our own good, and that it is what they must tell us. I appreciate someone being honest with me, and telling me what the truth really is; even though it may not be what I desire to hear; than someone just telling me something because they are afraid that I will get mad at them, if they do not give me a particular answer. When they have guts enough to tell me what I need to hear, it makes me love them much more.

If you love them, you love them whether or not you are ready to hear it.
If they love you, they love you whether or not you are ready to hear it.
I wasn't ready to hear the truth my spouse had for me. I denied it to him and myself for a long time. I loved him both for and in spite of him telling me. He risked a great deal in saying it to me. When I came to realize he was right, I loved him even more for how deep his perception of me was -- he understood things no one else ever had.
I don't know if this is helping, Bob -- I hope it is.
