Rice provides more than 1 fifth of the calories consumed by humans. It is the most important part of the meal in many asian cultures. In China, the phrase that means "have you eaten?", litterally translates to "have you had your rice?" If there is no rice with a meal, it is not actually considered a meal, it is just a snack. And don't forget, 25% of the world population lives in China. Another 25% live in India, where rice is also very important.

is everyone just guessing? and not thinking?
EGGS !!!
Think of it !!! Really !
Its used very significantly on ALL continents, in every corner of the world, used by every culture, mixed in savory foods, mixed with meats, and also mixed in sweet foods cakes etc, in sauces, or just by itself;
-- as opposed to rice which is used extensively by masses of people IN ASIA, but, not so widely throughout all the world, since in Africa, rice isn't such a common thing, and N&S America and Europe, its not such a big thing --most people don't bother with it at all, Even in the Arctic,.they naturally have and eat eggs (from Ptarmigans etc) but not rice, In the deepest darkest Africa, they have & eat eggs too, they can always pickup an Ostrich egg, but probably can't find any rice or wheat or bread. People living in mountains have and eat eggs, and people in Rainforest Jungles eat eggs but don't get rice or wheat or bread, and people in deserts can find eggs to eat too. EGGS ARE THE MOST WIDELY USED FOOD ALL AROUND THE WORLD !

I have to agree with the people who have said "rice". Lots of people over there in China chowing down on rice all day long. Billions, I'm pretty sure.
