Isn't conservative just another name for greedy, fanatical and ignorant?

It use to mean that they believed that the marketplace would provide for everyone if left alone. Unfortunately, as we found out under Regan, this doesn't quite work. If you let businesses run as they want, without limitation, they will get greedy and the people just get screwed.

Then, in the late 80's the radical conservatives came along and moved the party further to the right by aligning it with certain religious leaders and organizations who used their power to get what they want. This unholy alliance left them very powerful through the 90's (so much so that they impeached a president over next-to-nothing).

Then, with W. taking control, they gained control over two branches of government. But a weird thing happened on the trip from the 80’s through 2000 – they conservatives turned into authoritarians (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=authoritarian ).

Now, those who would tell you that they’re conservative, aren’t. I mean, look at our current president and Congress. They are fully Republican controlled, so you would think that they would be conservative – But noooooo. They’ve spent money faster then a drunk Ted Kennedy loose in Vegas with a fist full of government bonds. They’ve decreased individual responsibility and rights, while decreasing states rights and increasing the size of government.

Does that sound conservative to you? No. These are authoritarian’s hell bent on control, obedience, money, and power.

Make a difference: Demand debates. Ask for details. Expect more from your elected officials. Tell them no. Challenge their findings. Hold them accountable.
