i agree. it's a stupid saying and obviously came from someone who never fell in love or a smug b@stard who did fall in love and never lost that person. how can it be better to lose the person you love? wouldn't it be better to have never loved them? then you would feel no pain.

..."why so blue, Panda Bear"??? I read much more into this than you have written....
It's just my opinion that (even though it sucks)... it IS better to have "loved and lost"... than to "never loved at all"....
The most consistent thing in LIFE is change... it's what We do.. it's what the World does...and when He gave us the ability to Love... He gave us the "tools" to work with... but didn't tell us how to use them... He gave us all a heart.... but didn't tell us how to make two of them "connect" and stay that way....
Where would we be if we ran from everything that "hurt" us in life.....
......Watch a baby learning to walk for the very first time... He's gonna "try"; He's gonna fall... but He's gonna get right back up and KEEP trying until He can walk.... if we (as adults) could just learn to "love" each other like that....
We all should take time to learn from the innocent and pure.... it just might help this thing called "love"... last, more often, between two people...(which leads me to.....)
"That which doesn't kill us; only makes us stronger".....(or)
"If first you don't succeed; try try again"....
"If there's a will; there's a way"...
"Live well, Love much, Laugh Often"
When one door closes... God opens a window...
We all have our place.... we just all haven't found it, yet...

I'm thinking it was someone who kidnapped a woman and she escaped. He got away with it and was never prosecuted. That's why he says about loving and losing....he's just happy he could have her in his basement for all those months...and NOT go to jail for it. That's got to be the reason because otherwise, it totally sux.

i dont know but i believe that it is true. its hard to go through life hearing people talking about love and never knowing what it is or what it feels like. its hard to have a conversation without knowing what it is... no matter what it would come up in a sentence!

OK think about it. what if you never loved anyone ever. would that make you a winner? part of love is the loss and new love. it is a process.
