Try skipping the conditioner. Put some mousse in your hair while it is damp. Blow dry it. When it is dry, brush it through really well, and spray hairspray all over it. I really mean all over it. Then curl your hair. Set your iron to very hot, and hold it in your hair for a while. Curl a small section at a time. After curling each section, spray it with hairspray again. Hope this works.
If it is humid out though, I wouldn't even bother with all of this, just wear your shiny, silky, straight hair down. Show it off.
If this doesn't work, try putting curlers in your hair while your hair is damp. Still skip the conditioner, and add mousse. Spray all your curlers with hairspray and as you take out each curler, spray the section of hair again
Good luck!.

Mabe you shouldn't wash your hair because it's most likely to hold curls like that. Also you could try using lock in curl spay.

my sister has straight as a board hair. and the only thing she can do is get a perm and then when she curls her hair with a curling iron or hot rollers it accually stays curled. good luck.
