Well the road to loosing weight is allegedly hard and very demanding. it is NOT the case. Me having lived in one of the fatest city in the States, Detroit ,i know what it is to gain weight and try to lose it.
It has three elements:
1- Food variation, quatities and timing
2- Physical Activity
3- Level of Stress.
I personnaly lost weight, not by eating less like other have said but by making sure that i use variety and moderation in my daily food. I make sure i have Vegetables, fruits, meat, starch and dairy, daily. Added to 8 cups of water and you should be on the right track. This allows actually to have variety hence making you less suscebtible to get bored out of a diet. You have to make sure though that if you had your portion of starch for example you stick to it and not have another for that day. So if you have a light cream cheese wheat bagle in the morning you scratch Starch and dairy off of your list. Introduce the fruits as 2 or 3 snacks between meals...and DO NOT SKIP MEALS nor WATER !!!! it is crucial
Doing the above alone can get you to lose weight, rather slowly which is healthier and longer lasting than starvation-based diets. you are aiming at 2-3 pounds per week. You will notice that your body will lose weight fast then slow then fast again, only coz your body is changing and adapting to the new life style.

2- Doing excercise helps tone the body and burn excess fat. No need for a gym membership...Try to walk back and forth to work or to the store or couple of times around the block, it will boost your metabolism and you will lose more weight.

3- Beleive it or not stress levels can not only boost your appetite but make your body more into storing food in form of fat. So try to reduce it and do not do excess coffee. Try decaf.

The results will show within 2-3 weeks but they are guaranteed.

Firstly, ignore fad diets because they only make you fatter.

Keep a food diary. Write down everything you eat for a week, and keep it honest. Even that little bit of chocolate counts!

Stop eating take-out and processed foods. If you're eating out avoid the bread basket or anything that is deep fried or comes with a creamy sauce. Ask for salad dressings and sauces to be served on the side and go for the garden salad instead of fries. A little bit of dessert is okay, but ask for a half serve or share it with someone else.

Eat six small meals a day, including a high fibre breakfast.

Try and eat five servings of fresh vegetables and two servings of fresh fruit everyday.

Cook meals from scratch using fresh ingredients, that way you know exactly what you're eating.

When you shop chose whole grain bread, leafy vegetables, fresh fruit, lean meat and low fat dairy products. Avoid the middle of the supermarket where all the processed foods live and shop around the edges where the fresh foods live. Make a list and stick to it, and it is true that you tend to buy more junk when you're hungry so have an apple before you go out.

Ignore things that claim to be 'Lite' or 'Fat Free' because the manufacturers have replaced the fat with salt and sugar to give them flavour.

Drink plain water not sports drinks because they contain sugar disguised as something else.

Cut down on coffee. One or two cups of coffee are okay, but more than that will cause you to bloat and retain water. And for every cup of coffee you drink, have a glass of water to help flush the toxins out of your system.

EXERCISE!!! A brisk, thirty minute walk each day will work wonders. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park a couple of blocks away from where you need to be and walk the rest of the way. Get that bike out of the garage and ride around the park with the kids. You don't need to join a gym or get a personal trainer, just get moving!

But most of all, don't expect the weight to fall off immediately. Be realistic about your goals and allow for occasional steps backwards. And don't punish yourself if you do have a bad food day. Just recognize that you've slipped up and get back on track tomorrow.

Personally I lost a decent amount of weight pretty quickly after going vegetarian, and I heard this is really common. So cutting down on your fast food and meat intake in general will help you. Just eat more fruit and vegetables instead. Exercising (but don't overdo it!) will also help. Keep track of the healthy ranges for your age and height by using a bmi calculator. You can find those online. Don't be disappointed if you don't see results right away!

Ask yourself how bad you really want it.
If you read this, please, please take a minute to lean back and think how bad you want to lose weight.

This is all mental.

Now for the physical part.
I attribute 80% of my success to nutrition

Key ingredients:
- Multivitamin
- Lean Meats (fish, chicken, turkey)
- Meal Replacements
- Protein Bars
- Oatmeal is absolutely magnificent
- Green Tea
- Timing and portions
- Exercise (30 minute walks or jogs)
- Sleep ( Full 8 Hours)

What i'm saying is what actor Ryan Reynolds was actually doing, along with recovery aid L-Glutamine, CLA, and whey protein shakes. with this, he slashed 1/3 of his body fat.

Good Luck.

Eat a full breakfast everyday, not eating anything causes your metabolisms to react and therefore create more fat. Excercise more, and walk when going shopping (unless you're buying a giant screen TV or something).
