many blame God for suffering in the world, yet they choose to forget that it is our fault> We insist on SINNING, such as by fornicating, committing adultry, lusting, hating, etc. Yet, we blame God on why he doesn't help us. Maybe if we choose to obey God's commandments, then he would help us, thoughts>

AGREED. Pain is mandatory in life, suffering is optional. Alot of our problems are SELF-INDUCED by the choices we make. God gave us free-will to make good or bad decisions. the consequences are ours.

That depends on your definition of god. If the god of the Bible existed, there would be no suffering. An all good god wouldn't allow suffering whether we "sin" or not. The popular "free will" theodicy fails on so many levels. No matter how you look at it, god is ultimately responsible for all evil and suffering.

"God is omniscient. When he created the universe, he saw the sufferings which humans would endure as a result of the sin of those original humans. He heard the screams of the damned. Surely he would have known that it would have been better for those humans to never have been born (in fact, the Bible says this very thing), and surely this all-compassionate deity would have foregone the creation of a universe destined to imperfection in which many of the humans were doomed to eternal suffering. A perfectly compassionate being who creates beings which he knows are doomed to suffer is impossible."

Talking about god's actions here, not peoples.

“The gods can either take away evil from the world and will not, or, being willing to do so cannot; or they neither can nor will, or lastly, they are able and willing. If they have the will to remove evil and cannot, then they are not omnipotent. If they can but will not, then they are not benevolent. If they are neither able nor willing, they are neither omnipotent nor benevolent..Lastly, if they are both able and willing to annihilate evil, why does it exist? ” -Greek philosopher Epicurus (341-270 BCE)

All-knowing god, would know that people would sin and all these things. Our freewill has nothing to do with this. Talking about god's actions here. He knew everything that would happen and he ran the plan anyways. So it is god's fault.

Yes to a point. God is both just and merciful. Just- because we deserve the punishment - merciful- because after being chastised a little we are raised to an even more abundant life but, there are those who love God so much and realize how much he loves each one of us, they are willing to do extra suffering being a member of the body of Christ on their behalf They know that it will not go for not. God will apply their suffering to the abundance of sin. This is what St. Paul meant by "I make up in my body for what is lacking in the suffering of Christ for sinners." He goes on to say that Jesus' suffering was not lacking per say, only that he gives us a chance to participate.

Actually, no. Suffering is a teaching tool. A very effective one. God is not interested in your happiness on the testing field. He's preparing you for eternal life. Happiness comes later. Right now, you're in boot camp.

"An all good god wouldn't allow suffering whether we "sin" or not."

Really! So if God existed and I sinned by deciding to shoot you, you wouldn't suffer from being shot? And your family wouldn't suffer? What an all good God does is tell us what we need to do in order to avoid needless suffering. If we ignore Him or reject His word, then we will suffer, and He will have no choice but to sadly watch us make our self-destructive choices.
