It depends, sometimes puppies cry at night even when they are away from their mother. If they aren't happy, they're gonna cry.

The puppies I have gotten in the past I crate trained. Of course the pup would pitch a fit for the first few nights. But if you DON'T pick them up and cuddle and play with them when they're crying then it should stop in 2 or 3 nights. That has been my experience. Of course I make sure the pup has water and food, a blanket or towel, and a toy so it feels comfortable.

It depends on several things. A puppies cry is just like a babies cry- he/she is trying to tell you they need something.
If he/she was just taken from their litter mates recently- it could be that they are lonely or cold at night.
It also could be that they are hungry or thirsty or need pottied.
If you know all the pup's needs are met, then you might be in the unfortunate position to just wait it out. One thing you could try is having chew toys (flavored) available. If it is lonely you could get a puppy safe plushie doy that is about the same time and put it to bed with it as a substitute for the mom/sibs.
When I brought my pup home at about 8 weeks there was no way she could sleep through the night. Sometimes they just need comfort. As they get older they sleep longer and by the time they are about 3 months old they should be fine through out the night. Some adjust sooner though. Hope that helped! :)

well first it depends on how long you have had the puppy. Puppys normally cry because they are alone and away from the pack. (mother and pups) they can cry up to a few months until they feel secure. try giving them toys to play with, a meal 30 min to an hour before you go to bed and let him use the potty right before you are ready to retire for the night. reasure him or her with lots of love that you are not abandoning him.

it varies some take a few nights some take afew weeks try putting a ticking clock and a warm hot water bottle under it's blanket at night. But do not get up at night to see to it as you will only be giving it attention and that's what it wants they are like babies seeking attention they pick up on things quickly. I know it will be hard but try to ignore it and it will soon get the message when it's not getting the attentionand it should give up crying

try a plush toy or even a warm blanket the pup may be cold... I know when I brought my little pitbull home she cried all the time and was yes being a baby but also was cold so I would wrap her in the blanket and let her get settled and my chihuahua would sleep right in the doggie bed with her...my mini lab and corgy wont have anything to do with her but thats a seperate story...try a wamrn blanket or plush maybe your pup is lonely maybe consider getting a companion for him or her.

Until they are trained not to cry at night they just may continue for a long time. Do they need the mother to still nurse them?

My little doggy stopped crying at night after she was around five months. If you pick her/him up or pay any attention to her/him at all it will keep happening.
