God specifically said that we are to work and not just sit around doing nothing. I work a wonderful job that I love very much and trust that God will provide me with the finances I need to have shelter and food. If god wishes to take my job away, I will continue to trust that He will provide the means necessary for me to continue to have shelter and food. This does not mean that if I lose my job I will sit like a lump and "trust" that my bills will be paid and cabinets stocked. I will hunt for a job, find one, and give God all the praise and glory for once again providing for me.

God bless.

When sin entered the world as result of the fall of man we all had to work. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate from the tree of knowledge. Their punishment was to be casted out of the garden. They also had to work in the fields and have to live in a world of survival of the fittest. Because of His grace he made it acceptable to eat meat after the great flood when Noah and his family left the ark. Because of His grace and everlasting mercy and wisdom which surpasses human understanding and reason, God made it possible to be forgiven and obtain salvation through the redemptive saving power of Jesus Christ who died on the cross in Calvary for our sins and gave us his Holy Spirit.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 In fact, also, when we were with you, we used to give you this order, "If anyone does not want to work, neither let him eat." 1 Timothy 5:8 Certainly if anyone does not provide for those who are his own, and especially for those who are members of his household, he has disowned the faith and is worse than a person without faith.

Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard!
Consider her ways and be wise,
Which, having no captain,
Overseer or ruler,
Provides her supplies in the summer,
And gathers her food in the harvest.

Paul says "Those who do not work...do not eat"
When Paul was preaching all over so.Europe and the Middle East he supported himself by being a tent maker. He knew there were alot of lazy bums that would say what you're saying. The old saying "God helps those that help themselves" is not Biblical but it still is true.

It is true He feeds the fowls of the air and the beasts in the fields, but further on he also states he who does not work does not eat.

not all people have that sort of trust in God, let alone belief in Him at all. I think we all yearn for some social order and organization; it gives us the security we want. Peace!

[34:36] Say, "My Lord is the One who controls all provisions; He grants the provisions to whomever He wills, or reduces them, but most people do not know."

You go to work because the Bible teaches us that if a person does not work, he or she should not eat. We work so we can help ourselves as well as those who are not as fortunate as we are. We work because the Bible also tells us that idle hands are the devil's workshop. If we don't work at something, we will find ourselves getting into trouble and causing trouble for others.

You go to work out of a sense of personal responsibility to get your needs met. However, I do know that my Gods are watching over me and would never let me starve if I lost my job.

The bible tells us to work. Paul wrote that he did work so that he would not be a burden to anyone. In fact there is a verse, they that can work and do not....should not eat!
