The pain is normal. I went through the same thing where I got the extenders and braces and they had to put little rubber bands in my teeth to make them move apart to get the brackets on. You will probably end up with a blister on the inside of your mouth in the back where the brackets fit around your molers.

I wish I had a solution for you but other than taking tylenol, and other pain killers, there is not much else you can do. I used to cut my sandwich in half, then in half again then I would cut each square in half and half again. That way, I ended up with little bite sized pieces that didn't require me to bite down hard enough to rip the food. I could just chew easily. Ask the orthadontist if he has any "wax" to put on parts of the braces that rub against your cheek. Most offices have it and it helps. It could be that they left a wire poking out a little in the back. You might have to go and get that piece clipped. Its usually a piece so small that you can't even get your fingers on it to bend it but its big enough to rub a sore.

I hope this helps, if you ever have any more questions about braces from someone who's been there then just email me through my answers page.

Hope this helps.

First of all, it is braces, took me a while to figure out what you meant. You can take Advil or something like that but make sure you talk to your parents first. As far as the pokey thing you can ask your orthodontist for wax that you could place on the thing or he can figure out if he can fix it.

The pokey thing is just because they didn't clip the wire close enough no biggie, if it is really bad go back and ask them to re clip the wires for you. And no braces just hurt alot alot alot when you first get them, my didn't start feeling better until about 2 weeks after i got them.

My daughter just got braces and her's hurt for about 5 days. Put wax on the poking wire in the back or call the dentist and they will trim it for you.
