They have the "don't ask, don't tell" policy but the lifestyle is not very welcome in any of the armed forces.

There have always been gay people in the navy. You are just not supposed to get caught.

You have already been advised about the don't asked don't tell policy in place today.

You may find it of interest that when I joined and received my commission you were asked several questions and had to sign a document attesting to its veracity.

Among the questions they asked were
- are you a homosexual or have you engaged in homosexual activity
- have you ever used marijania

That's the difference between the military and much of the public sector by the way. They take you at your word until your actions prove differently.

The military has a "don't ask - don't tell" rule, thanks to Clinton. prior to 1992 gays were openly banned from the military.

If you are gay, I would recommend staying out of the Navy, because if your are suspected of being gay, you will probably go missing at sea in the middle of the night.....

They are not allowed to ask if they are gay or not. However, if the recruit is open about it or comes out with it he/she is usually discharged or not let into the service. Just like any other branch.

it is a 'dont ask, dont tell' policy BUT if you are gay and are caught you are out, if you are openly gay and get caught you are out, if there is a complaint re you being gay you are out.

Maybe NOT a good job pick if that is your way of life to be honest.
