Try:
"Why is electricity being generated by gas instead of nuclear energy in the US? Gas is an expensive fuel."
First, you need the verb "is" because you do not have a predicate (verb). "US" needs the word "the" in front of it. You also have two different ideas being compressed into a single "sentence" (it isn't really a sentence because it lacks the predicate), so I would split off the second idea into a seperate sentence and do some reordering.
Hope this helps.

why [should be capitalized] [missing a verb] electricity being generated by gas and [misplaced "and"] such [insert "which is" if "such is used here] a expensive fuel in US [comma] instead of using nuclear energy?
Here is a better version:
Why, in the U.S., is electricity generated by an expensive fuel such as gas, instead of using nuclear energy?

A semi-colon might make extra sense instead of a comma. There are 2 seperate innovations on your fact. My father hates traveling; he might only desire to stay in the city the place he became born.
