They are in heat for about 2 weeks, but it can vary. The most fertile time for the pet is after the pet stops bleeding, and thats the time that you have to worry about the pet getting pregnant, but it can happen when they are bleeding, and not only that but while a pets in heat they can develop a pyometra (pus in the uterus) which is a pretty expensive surgery. If you plan on breeding the pet you want to wait until the pet is about 2 years old. If you pet has another heat cycle soon after the first heat cyle then you might want to take them to the vet. or if they are drinking lots of water, and lethargic after the went into heat. cause then they could possible have a pyometra. Age and breed doesn't really change the normalities of dogs heat cycles.

Heat cycles last between 2 and 3 weeks. Usually the heavier bleeding tends to be from day 7 to 14 or so.
They do sell doggie "diapers" that help during heats.

Same as any other dog, they're in heat for a total of about 3 weeks and need to be kept away from all males the whole time. If she's making too much of a mess, go to a pet shop and pick her up some diapers made for dogs (just dont' take her with you). Hopefully you have plans to have her spayed before her next heat - it's much healthier for your dog.

I don't think it matters on breed. My mini dachshund goes into season for about 12-16 days, which I found normal as compared to the other dogs I've had while I was growing up.
Best suggestion I can offer is buy one of those doggie diapers (I got a good one at Petco) that costs about 20 bucks. Then, use a pantyliner and she'll be good to go.
I know it's kind of yucky, but it's nature. Good luck!

A dog can have a heat cycle for up to 2 weeks, of course how long she bleeds is different for every dog.

dogs go into heat for about three weeks, and bleed during one of them. get a diaper if you cant handle the bleeding. but it shouldnt be any longer than that.

Get her spayed and she or he will no longer have warmth classes. it truly is better effective for her well being and that is going to diminish her probability of maximum cancers. Then get right into a domestic dog coaching classification. this can help you to bond which includes her and prepare you recommendations to coach her. The better you artwork which includes her the better time you should bond which includes her. canines stick with the chief and in case you ways to be her chief she will study the thanks to love you and to look to you for course and guidence. reliable success.

If you had spayed the dog, you wouldn't have this concern.
PLEASE SPAY THE DOG! There are already too many unwanted animals that are euthanized every day.
