I would get a Boxer Bull dog. I have one that 8 months old. He is so smart, he was so easy to house break and he never leaves my side....He is wonderful. Wish I had known yrs ago that they were such good and smart dogs. I always had small dogs.
If you re getting one for a house dog i would get a short haired dog.

Bernese Mountain Dog

It depends on your personality and where u live.
Bernese, Siberian Husky,and Akita all need alot of grooming and excersise. These breeds require more food.
Cain Terrier and bull dog require no grooming, and little excercise. These breeds require less food.

If you want a purebred all these breeds are extremely expensive

Bernese is the friendliest however out of this group.

If you just kind of concentrate on what kind of dog you might like (one that likes to sleep on the bed with you, or not, one that likes to go for long walks every day, or not), and when you are looking for a dog, a dog will come looking for you. If the universe knows what you are looking for it will match you with an animal that is looking for a person like you.

I get a lot of questions from people looking to get a dog. They want any or all of these characteristics: small or medium, good with children, good with cats, doesn’t need much exercise, doesn’t need much care, lots of personality, doesn't shed, easy to train, no digging, no barking.
Consider reading Choosing the 'Right' Type of Dog for You. There are breed selectors that DogBreedInfo.com and Purina.com offer if you need help determining what breed of dog may work for you. Purina’s questionnaire is more comprehensive than DogBreedInfo’s.

There are very few breeds of dogs that don’t shed at all. Those that don’t shed much require grooming on a regular basis. If you don’t want any dog fur anywhere in your house, then maybe a dog is not for you.

There is only one breed of dog that does not bark, that is the Basenji. However, they can make other sounds. You can train a dog to bark less, but you can’t train them never to bark.

As for training, no dog is going to come trained (unless they’ve already gone through obedience training), so you are going to have to put effort into training. There are dog trainers and training schools out there, and some pet stores have dog training classes. Ultimately you will be responsible for making sure the dog and you both understand the commands and signals and you also have to use them appropriately when at home so that the dog doesn’t forget what was learned.

If this all sounds like too much work, then maybe a dog isn’t the animal for you. If you are willing to put in the time and effort, dogs can be wonderful companions. Dogs are always happy to see you when you come home!

~~~Try the DogBreedInfo.com’s questionnaire It great for trying to finnd what breed is right for you. the one at Purina.com is also helpful.~~~~
Siberian Husky
It depends on what you are looking for-
Siberian Huskies can make great pets but can be one person dogs and need A LOT of exercise- think sled dogs...
Akitas can be very protective and need an owner that understands how to deal with an alpha dog personality.
I don't know as much about the other three but the AKC website has some great information. Any reason why just these breeds?
That definitaly depends on your living conditions.
All of them need quite a bit of exercise, but keep in mind that if you don't some of the breeds can become destructive. Depending on which type of Bulldog (american or english) they are good dogs. but keep in mind that american bulldogs are becoming illegal in some states although they are good dogs just have bad reps. english bulls are good but might have to have surgery on the noses due to their squashed face (brachycephalic). Akitas can be pretty squirrly around people they don't know and children, but not always if they are socilized well. Huskys take alot of grooming ( I have a husky and a groomer matted his hair, it took me 1 hour on each side and 100mg of Benadryl to get all the mattes out) they also can be very destructive, very loud, not good around cats, loyal to one person, and must be on a leash even for a short walk (only cause they have a attention span of a 2 year old), Cain's need alot of exercise for there energy, and Bernese's are usually good dogs, and all around normal. but some might not be the "pick of the litter"
Siberian Huskies are the sweetest, most beautiful dogs, although they can be a bit hyper. I know someone with an Akita and he is a great dog plus he's really, really good with little kids.
There's such a huge difference in the temperaments, and especially energy levels, of these breeds that I really hope you've done some research here. I can't believe that someone for whom a bulldog is the ideal dog would be able to give a husky as much exercise as the breed demands. The best of these is the one that best fits your life style, your energy level, your likes and dislikes.
i personally would go with a bulldog, english preferably. huskys are on the insurance list, akitas have been known to have bi-polar tempers, cairn terriers are okay but can be tempermental, and i just dont like bemese mountain dogs....good luck in which ever you pick!!
Bermese mountain dog....gorgeous!!! a friend used to have one....they are lazy, laid back and big gentle giants..Cairn terriers seem a bit snappy, bull dogs can be a bit bad tempered, not sure about the others.....I read somewhere that u should get a dog to suit your own personality, thats the dog that would be the best for you....If you look on the inet you'll find a quiz somewhere that tells you what your ideal dog would be.....
