They probably both were.

Historically most probably both were real humans.

It is quite unlikely that Jesus was son of a non existent God created by humans. Siddhartha had real parents.

However Buddhist teachings are much more realistic than so called God based teachings in the bible.

Buddha was a real man, they were both real men, and they were both great and wise people. Scientists usually think Buddha's existence is more easily proven because of the fact that his father was a documented king...

both were real people

Jesus was real and unfallen man and real God
Buddah was a fallen man...

Nirvana is the blowing out of the candle... the extinguishment of all desires... I think I'lll pass thank you very much Buddah felt that the ultimate was the extinguishment of ALL desires...this includes hope... a little too much nothingness 'happily ever after' does not apply

Jesus redeemed desires and gives hope and abundant life and fullfills desires in the long run in heaven and gives us joy even here The Bible pressents something that would shock the socks off of Buddah... God has desires... man has desires which may be used for good or evil... but rightly put in God through Jesus man's desires are ultimately best fullfilled in God and the desires of man and the glory and desires of God meet wonderfully forever to the glory of Jesus Christ

Both probably existed- there seems to be no reason to doubt either's existence. The question you should ask is who was sent from God/enlightened? The way to answer that is to compare their teachings and check them for consistency within themselves and the world around you/us/them

Jesus. If you look at science and look at the creation around you, who else is powerful enough and loves us enough to create something like this than God? Read the Bible, in Genesis it will talk about Him creating the world and all in it. If you call on Buddha, he won't come and help you or listen to you, but when you call on Jesus he is ALWAYS there listening to you and guiding you along if you listen to him. Yes, Buddha WAS a real man, but he is no more than a dead man, but God is still fully alive!

Buddha was a real man, but he was JUST A MAN. Jesus walked the earth as a man, yet he was wholly God while he was a man

There is good evidence that both of them existed.
Religious and social movements and revolutions don't come from nowhere.

Both, probably. The real question is: who was more likely divine/enlightened?
