Also can you give me an exact list of what to avoid while on it.

Thanks

Google Dr Atkins, that is the original low carb diet. and yes as long as you are dedicated, they are fairly fast.

Avoid the following: Anything made with grains or cereals. Pasta, rice, sweets, breads, all bakery products, Potatoes,(that means all potatoes, any sweet drinks, all fruits and fruit juices If it is sweet or has sweet or sugar in its name don't eat it. All of these items are carbohydrates.

You can have meats, hard cheeses, all veggies without sweet or sugar in their name and eggs. Read all labels there are many things you can have. and no boxes of processed foods of any kind. Eat healthy
It only takes 2 or 3 days for the carbohydrate cravings to go away (they all turn to sugar in your body)

hi there. well I was on Atkin's for awhile, but then I got to feeling pretty crummy & got a lil sick of meat & cheese all the time. So I played around w/ low carb plans for a bit, & I don't really know whether this is published as an actual "diet" anywhere, but this is how I worked mine out & so far (6 months in) have lost 45lbs.(I love the simplicity too). All servings are about a fistful or '1' if it's something like an apple or bread. basically you eat 4 grains, 4 protein, 4 fruits, & 4 veggies a day, broken up like this: Breakfast: 1grain, 1protein, 1fruit, & 1veggie...same thing for lunch & dinner. a morning snack is grain & protein & an afternoon snack is fruit & veggie. I usually eat every 3 hours & then go for a stroll or swim after. Well I don't really know your situation, but if this sounds like something you could do, I think you should try it! btw, I'll include my schedule & a sample menu to help you decide if u'd want to try. :)
my schedule
5am wake up & get ready for day
6am-630 breakfast...strawberries & granola, 1egg & tomatoes
630-7am pick up the house or do a yoga or dance video
7-8am help everyone else get ready for the day
8-9am drive to schools, then to work
9am start work
snack...wheat bread w/ peanut butter(ok, so a handful would get a lil sticky, but u get the jist...just look @ the label)
12pm lunch break...brown rice, bell peppers, & pinto beans & a pear
12:30-1 pm take a stroll
3pm snack baby carrots & a peach
5pm off work, go home
6pm dinner...homemade chicken noodle soup, salad w/dressing(look @ the label here too) frozen grapes for dessert
630-730 family outing(park, roller skating, trampoline, bike ride, walk, or any other active fun thing to do)
730-8 get the kids ready for bed
8 kids to bed
8-9pm me time
9pm go to bed

& the best part is, as long as you don't gorge or sleep till 4pm, you can take the weekends off! I hope this helps, you can email me @ electrickshadow@yahoo.com if you want. :)

They work very fast if you follow the NO Carb rule. Eat any fresh veggies, or meat, and with lots of water and exersise you could lose 5-10 pounds in the first couple of weeks. You need to be very strict and get lots of exersise. Watch out though - maintaining a low carb diet can cause heart problems.
