hi, i think you should start by asking her out to dinner and a play, so that you both can get comfortable with each other , conversed and learn a little about each other, then after the dinner you can due the phantom of the opera after the play invite her out for a drink and if she doesn't respond still be a gentleman. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. take care and good luck.

I think I t wouldn't be a great date on the first date you would want to get to know a person to see how compatible you are? So I would go somewhere more open where it would not be as personal more open, and energetic. May I suggest a nice karaoke bar where it would break the ice, or a nice restaurant, maybe even bowling or skating. Save the Phantom for another date .

I think if you intend to keep up this level of dating- bring it on! If she likes opera (whether she's been or not)- this will be the sweetest first date. I think maybe if you've never spoken to her before- you should try something casual first, BUT you're a man and I don't think this is coming on too strong at all. Good luck! ( i wish our west end had an opera house!)

A guy took me to Pirates of Pen on out first date, I was floored. That was something I was not expecting and I ended up having to buy a whole new outfit for the occasion. The messed up part was after the drink before, I found I didn't really like him. Then I had wasted allot of money and I felt like I took advantage of him because he spent allot of money on tickets and trying to impress me.
Go with something like a walk, or the age old dinner and a movie. Its not that expensive and you get to know the person a little better. Expensive dates are reserved for date #3. Then the first kiss can be established and memorable....

For a start, she hasn't even accepted yet, and I think Phantom Of The Opera is a bit too-much, too-soon. A quiet drink in a pub, perhaps a meal would be better, at least you could exchange some chatter.

Fabulous!
In the days before i met my dear husband I used to dream of such a date. Ask her to go and she will say yes because all us girls love phantom, and we really do like being asked on a date. Take here straight there so you can have a little chat on the way.. but not too strained, then after take her out to a quiet pub and you have the ice breaker of talking about the show.
Also I would like to say..... Well done on thinking of such a great night out for a girl, thanx for being a gent

How about you keep it flexible. Not certain what time you will be going, but maybe something light and easy to nibble on before you see the movie or even while watching it. Then a drink, ice cream, or even coffee afterwards (ask her what she prefers) and some conversation about the movie. The both of you should be able to decide if you wnat to go out again and so on by then.

This is an excellent idea for a first date. You can start talking before you go in, you have something to do together, and you will have plenty to talk about after the performance, which can be extended to a late bar or restaurant. Perfect, I wish a man had been so thoughtful about me!

I agree with what you say about chatting. I never think cinema is a good idea on a first date However I think a show is very cultured. If you go for a drink after you can discuss the show, but it will probably finish a little late.

It sounds like a great idea. A short drink first to break the ice is nice, a play to get used to being out with a new person without the need to constantly speak, and maybe desert after would be very nice.
