The PIAT was a very light weapon that had a short range and was effective against lightly armored vehicles. The bazooka and Panzerschreck were essentially the same weapons. The Germans actually made a copy of a captured bazooka with some small modifications. Both were much more effective than the PIAT. They had a longer range, heavier shell and could defeat most armor they might encounter.

The Panzerschreck was a copy of the American bazooka. You can easliy see the similarities. It had many additions that the original bazooka didi not which made it a more effective weapon.I read somewhere that the allies started to use this weapon whenever they captured one.The Panzerfaust was unreliable in many instances. My father use one drawn from captured stocks when he was in the Yugoslav army in the '50's.He actually set fire to his clothes from the backblast. You could do this as there wasnt much distance between the pipe and the torso. The Schreck was a much longer weapon and therefore this wasnt a problem.
