Also, what is a good store to buy from ? I've heard of Black's but I think that they're expensive... I live in Canada, so if someone could give me some names of stores, that would be really appreciated. I'm looking for a digi cam that's 3.5 megapixels min. I'm not looking to spend a whole lot. If possible, I'm trying to spend as close to $125 as I can. I guess the most I'm willing to spend would be $300. Someone suggested that I buy a digi cam instead of buying a 35 mm first. He's prob right. I should just buy a few dis cameras (Christmas & other occassions) & saving up for a digi cam. Can someone recommend a good model ? Where can I buy it ? I'm not trying to buy anything online cuz I don't have a credit card. I'm thinking of places like Wal Mart & anywhere else in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada) where I can buy electronics. Thanx !!!

Which powershot tho ? I looked on the link below yours & I found a list of 4 powershots. Also, is Canon the best brand for digi cams ? I don't like the way the Kodak digi cams look... I wanna be able to zoom in & I want batteries that'll recharge.

I went to cnet & got some reviews. Based on 16 reviews I am considering the "Canon Powershot A530" or possibly the A540 which a reviewer mentioned. So based on these reviews, its rating is 8.56. Cnet gave it a 6.8 which someone said that it didn't deserve. Based on those 2 #s alone, its review avg is 7.68. Can anyone else give me another camera that's easy to use, is very lightweight, has a min of 5 megapixels & has a lot of other cool features ?

pretty much anything over 5 megapixels will give u the same quality on regular 4x6 pictures, if you want to blow up your picture then you will need a higher mega pixel camera.
i would recommend either cannon or nikons, try a nikon s2, or s3
the problem with most of the models in your price range is that they will bee bulkier, smaller screens and most will take double A batteries (meaning that you will have to keep buying batteries and to some thats to much of a hassel). if you can get around these problems then go for a nikon l2,l4 or even a 5600. but if you want a more stylish smaller ones using litium batteries then your price range will have to change
and s2 should be around 230, and a s3 (white or black)should be around 250, check them out
keep in mind that you will need to by a memory card if you havent already done so..

Mega-pixels are not everything. Important is also a good OPTICAL zoom, and if you still can choose with your budget of $ 125 - $ 300, you should try to get informations about the shutter delay of your "candidates". Unlike 35 mm cameras, you will with compact digital cams always find, that they make the picture some time after you press the release button.
For this reason I suggest, that, unless you want to work with the pics on a computer, you as a first time buyer start with a 35 mm. You should be able to find a good one second hand. One brand that made many good 35 mm compact cams is Olympus.

I would recommend the Kodak easyshare. I have one and I love it! It's super simple to work but takes great pictures. Also you should get a good memory card and I highly recommend the Energizer rechargable batteries and the 15 minute charger. The dock is also available for the easyshare which makes uploading your pictures a breeze, but I don't have it and it's still super easy to upload them. Walmart is a good place to buy one. They have a great return policy and probably about the best prices. You'd probably have more options at an electronics store, but the prices would be slightly higher.
Hope this helps, good luck!

Kodak, Nokia, and Cannon are all really good brands, you'd have to shop around for a good price, but you should be able to find a decent starter camera from one of those companies in your price range. As for stores I don't live in Canada, don't go to Walmart if you can possible avoid it though. You might look online for some stores in your area or even online stores in your provance, they might be able to get you a better deal even.

Try Kodak, they got that easy share base and you just plug it in to your computer.
My friend bought one for his 70+ mother last year for a trip to Europe, SHe loved it. She stuck a big SD card in it brought lots of batteries, got home and before she unpacked, she had downloaded all of her pictures and sent them to everyone on her mailing list.
