no. Swearing alliegance to an artificial entity like a State is the basis of blind and stupid Nationalism, adding a specific monotheistic patriarchal Death Cult is just icing on the cake.

Yes, we need to say the Pledge with the word God in it. This Pledge was written on American Soil. America was built by Christians and the foundation of this Great United States was formed by . So If some people do not like to use the word God, then when they are Respecting this Country, by participating iin the Pledge, they don't have to let anyone know excepts themselves that they left the word God out. The Pledge of Allegiance was written way before many of the people on here were even born. Even before their parents were born. So what makes these people think they should change it ???? Or I am gonna say, These people who do not like to use the word God, has a lot of nerve. Boy oh Boy, What next ???

Money says "In God we trust.". Do you want to avoid using money too?

Actually the phrase "under God" was added later, or maybe it was removed for a time, then added back in. My parents remember when it was added.

But isn't pledging to a symbol kind of idol worship anyway? Why "pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America" and not simply "pledge allegiance to the United States of America"?

Be reasonable here. If you believe in God and you are a Christian say God in the pledge of alligiance. If you dont, then you do not have to say it, but Government shouldn't be trying to take this out of schools. They should leave it up to each individual wether they want to say God or not.

Just because of the word 'God', no. To show respect to what our country had to go through in order to have independence yes. We aren't saying a pledge to God, we are saying a pledge to our country.

One Nation, Under God was added in the 1950's and should be removed. A pledge is a promise, and its not right to demand kids promise to be a nation under a religion icon.

Go to the VFW Hall and ask a stupid question like that. Millions of lives were lost to allow you the freedom to express what ever you wish. By the way, how long did it take you to think up this question ?

No. That isn't what the pledge is written for. It's to show your allegiance to the American Gov't.

I care less about what you do!
PS: It is God. You may be a pagan then god is OK too.
