and man invented religion, doesn't if follow that man invented god?
I mean I haven't heard anyone suggesting that God himself wrote the bible. Everyone seems to agree that it was written by men, so unless you are suggesting that these men could somehow dictate the literal word with no errors isn't the logical thing to assume that man invented religion and god.
There where many reiligions before Christianity, and there are currently many others practiced in the world. Doesn't it make more sense that man himself invented religion ot explain his own existance? Doesn't it make more sense that people thousands of years ago used religion to gain power and control?
OK, Now you can all tell me how I'm going to go to hell for questioning....so fire away.

Who where these chosen men of god. The new testement was started 70 years after christs death. It was written by people who didn't even know him. Over half the gosiples where thrown out by the church. The others heavily edited by men.
Or are you suggesting that pedophilic preists are in some way Gods chosen?

Well the Bible puts it this way about itself "for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." The Bible wasnt written or even dictated by God but was inspired by God. Men wrote as the Holy Spirit directed/moved them within their personalities, culture, language etc... Books could be wriiten on this subject and I know that more probably needs to be explained but I hope this answers your basic question.

I don't believe that you are going to hell for questioning. However, I am already probably hell-bound by the judgments of my peers, so you may not want to take my advice! I do agree with you point that since men wrote the bible and invented religion then it's possible we invented God as well. However, I do at times feel like there is something so much greater in this world than us. And to think that we are all some cosmic accident, and that there is nothing out there holding us together, seems so bleak. I do not accept this God that I am taught about in church every Sunday, however, I do believe in the feeling in my soul that tells me that there is SOMETHING greater than us in this world.
To think of the fine balance that must be maintained for life to exist, and to think that no matter how we manipulate our world, life still manages to exist, I feel that something must be present to watch over that balance. Call it what you will, God or not, but I don't believe that reading a Bible that was written by men will truly touch what is out there beyond our understanding even if they are truly inspired by this God.

OK, maybe now I will definitely go to hell....LOL.

The key to understanding whether men or God authored the Bible is to understand the unique role of Bible prophecy.

The Old Testament revealed hundreds of facts which described the coming of only one particular man ... Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and the Son of God.

These prophecies were written down anywhere from 200 to 2000 years in advance, and together, they point to and describe only Jesus Christ.

No book by human authors has the ability to do this.

The New Testament goes on to explain exactly how this was accomplished and fulfilled, and provides even more future prophecy.

History provides its' own testimony of these things, as well.

That's why the church has always taught that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, as set down in writing by the sacred writers, exactly as it was dictated to them by the Holy Spirit.

This is impossible for man, but not at all difficult for God.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions.
Nothing in the Bible has ever been proven to be wrong. Some things can't be proven, somethings can, but nothing has been disproven. What I mean is,the Bible talked about the Assyrian Empire, for example. For hundreds of years it was a joke."Why,everyone knows there's no such thing,no one's ever found remains"Then in the 1800s,a guy named Schlemann, not only found Ninevah, the capital of Assyria but the Behistan rock where the Kings would inscribe their names. All the names that were in the Bible, like Sennacharib, etc etc.No one believed in Solomon until they found a stable with his name insribed in stone.I could go on all day on proof of Jesus(outside writings),Pilate,David, etc.
The point is these writers, were writing down what they honestly saw and heard. The Bible was written in a time of rare, rare, travel by guys separated by hundreds of years ,3 different continents, about 40 authors and they all to the man have no differentiatons about the person and the nature of God.Why? Because God led them to put in scripture ,as they wrote their thoughts, the things He wanted included. That's what divine inspiration means, not that he was controlling every move of the pen.
Tip of the Iceberg my bro.
Ps Inat.. Moses only wrote 5 books of the 39 O.T books...DUH.

No one on this earth has the right to judge you, but you are in for a rude awaking at judgement day my friend. The Bible WAS wrote by men INSPIRED by The Holy Spirit from God. Usually man WILL invent something for his own advantage, but that does not MAKE it right. I can take the Word of God and twist it around to suit my needs any way I want it to, but that is not what the Word of God is there for. It is used for correction, reproof, and to use as a map for this temporary road of life we travel on.

even with all of those reasons, christians still believe. thats why many people think they have a mental disorder.

i myself dont think its a disorder, but i do think it is mental. maybe generation after generation of believing has ingrained into christians' minds so strongly, that they cant open their minds to other possiblities. maybe there are christians out there that have found almost every conceivable counter to almost every conceivable reason why people could choose not to believe in a god.

im not the smartest person in the world...far from it, but i wrack my mind, trying to think of questions that would "stump" believers, into having them think about the reasons why we dont believe, but some christians always are able to explain away, or dismiss those questions. its kind of hard to get around christians' beliefs, especially when they say "we dont need evidence", or "all the evidence we need is in the bible". it makes me want to throw up my hands and wish i knew what to say. but then i think to myself, does it really matter that they understand me? part of me says: no, its fine if they want to believe in a god. another part of me says, yes, it does matter, because it seems as if they are living in a world of the past.

i dont have any answers. all i "know" is that im willing to accept the idea that there might not be a god, just as im willing to accept that there might be one too. the thing is, i dont think i ever will know in my lifetime. the technology isnt available to prove or disprove the existance of a god.

as for religion, i truly believe that humankind invented religion. thousands to hundreds of thousands of people were living their lives, trying the best they could to survive, and they were all afraid of storms, hurricanes, tornados, flash floods, etc. a few people were able to suppress their fear, and became leaders (maybe they had the ability to do some kind of magic, or at least make it appear they did magic), and so they invented a religion and told the masses, they would be safe from harm and "evil" if they joined the new religion.

i dont know if this is true or not, but it sounds conceivable to me. until im proved otherwise, i will continue to use it as the best idea of how religion started.

..as a matter of fact: here is an answer i gave a day ago..

Matthew 12:30 says that :He who is not for me is against me"?
For everyone that uses their "crutch" as to say that we were ignorant of the Lords will and word for us in our lives, Jesus gives a strict warning, mind you, for our understanding.
so.......NOW THAT YOU HAVE CHAPTER AND VERSE OF WHERE IN THE BIBLE THIS IS FOUND......THERE IS NO EXCUSE. side note: you are loved greatly, however- the freewill choice is yours.

Well, I guess your imaginary friend will have to come on down and kick my butt. He can get in line behind the Cat in the Hat, who I first denied at about the age of 6.

Just out of curiosity, am I really supposed to be scared into accepting your religion because someone I don't believe in will send me somewhere I don't believe in?

All things considered, it is considerably more dangerous to date one of OJ's ex's.

Hi.
I figured that your answer was worth the 10 points simply alone because of your "honesty and openess". In reality, if it is success and riches/what not in this life alone that you seek... that is all you will end up with. I have made a strong attempt to disprove the KJ BIBLE, yet it is perfect

an answer i gave a day ago. I would not be a believer if the was false period. -GODBLESS you as you seek the truth.

Man didn't write the Bible alone. The Bible was written by choosen men of God. They were inspired to write the Bible by God. You won't go to hell unless you don't believe. You could use anything to control people. Religion is not necessary a form of control.

Religion is man made, and is about doing good to make it to heaven. Well this is not what the Bible teaches. There is a difference between religion and Christianity.

Christianity is about how coming to God through faith, not of works.

Well first of all..You are not going to hell because you asked a simple question. Everyone has questions. You're right. Man did write the Bible. But not just any men. God's diciples and His followers wrote different Books of the Bible...That's why they have names like Matthew, Mark, Luke...etc. BUT! They wrote the Bible with God's help. He spoke to them and gave them the knowledge to write their "story" in the different books.
