Great question. I would suggest don't comprimise your values - ever! Demand (in a nice way) to be treated with respect - ALWAYS! Don't settle for anything less and you will find yourself with a guy who knows how to treat a lady.

1) how long have u known this person?
2) don't take him out to meet the family that's giving him the hint your ready for a commitment..even if he says he's ready to meet ur folks..
3) talk to him..never can go wrong there. find something he's interested in and research i. i'm sure he'll be impressed!
4) don't change your self to get him tonotice you..stay true to yourself! good luck!

okay well i am going to answer your question the way i understand it ok so here goes...
if you are young then you need to just mingle right now because men now days are so into the music thing that they are more concerned about what they friends think rather than being respectful to anybody in general but read your bible and ask the lord to help you
