In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

No..the book of Zechariah, source, can't remember chapter ,around 3....Joshua (not the Jericho guy)the High Priest dies,he stands before the Throne of God in ragged clothes(representing our sinful nature).Satan is there accusing him before God ,but the Angel of the Lord(Jesus ) says" Not guilty, dress him in white robes fresh and clean".
See,another name for Satan is "The accuser of the bretheren" but Jesus took our sins,we are clean thru Him and there's nothing Satan can do but stamp his feet and point"But,but, but he stole some candy when he was 7 and he fornicated when he was 16 and..."
"Shut up" Jesus says"Not Guilty!"

I would think that once you are in heaven you would be out of Satans bounds. However according to biblical scripture he will be able to try to win over those who reign in the 1000 year period of peace after he is thrown into the pit with his followers. So I suppose it is possible.

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it; from His presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire; and if any one's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:11-15 RSV)
