I picked up a stray dog the other day, in the effort to "save" it. Sure enough, I no sooner get it home than my golden retriever goes into heat for the first time. I have been trying to find the other dogs owners because we just can't have another dog. But, this dog runs around my golden with his winkie out trying to mount her. Can he do this if he's fixed? His nails were trimmed and he had on a collar, I'm hoping that might mean someone also fixed him. We were wanting to breed the golden but not with this mutt and certainly not her first time to go into heat. What are my chances that he's impregnated her? Oh man, perish the thought!

Oof...I am pretty sure he has testicles. I didn't know they actually got removed. I thought it was like when human males get "fixed", they get to keep their equipment, it just doesn't do everything it was made to do. Dang...I don't want mutt/golden pups!

Well you should be abl to easily tell if the male has been neuterd.
Turn him over and look to see if he has testicles if not then you are not going to have puppies. If he has them you might be in trouble.
Even if he is neutered her can still mount and tie up with a female. But she will not have any pups from it.

Once upon a time, I had a dog named "chewey". My parents cared for him for a time, and had him neutered. In the mean-time I moved into my bf's house, who had a shephard X named Kiesha. Kiesha was 8 mos. old and it had only been 2 weeks since she got fixed. I soon brought my dog home (also a shephard XXXX) who seemed to REALLY like the female. Note: BOTH dogs were fixed! They were inseperable! Absolutely loved eachother! One day I came home from college, and my neighbor met me at the car and said "I hope you don't mind puppies..." It seems that Chewey "mounted" Kiesha while I was gone. I responded with a giggle and, "The only thing that can come from this is Kiesha might have sexual issues due to the fact that she was so young." The amazing thing is that, since they were stuck, neither Chewey nor Kiesha showed any sexual interrest from then on!! They did occasionally before that ever happened. But their "union" brought them so much emotionally closer. Later, I had to move out with my dog and children. Chewey was so heart-broken that he didn't eat for 3 days. Occasionally I would go to my bf's house while he was gone, and slip Kiesha a dog bone. I would go back home to my dog, who would smell her scent on my hands and clothes, and it would make him miss her again. He, once again, quit eating for 3 days!
Generally, Dogs don't usually show much interrest after being neutered, but occasionally it DOES happen! No puppies will result, but expect a life-long love between the dogs. They don't just mate for the breeding, they can also mate for the relationship.
The best way to tell if he's been fixed (I'm sure you know this if you have been around dogs) is to look behind his "winkey". If you see any "bombadaro's" he isn't fixed. The best thing to do is not tempt fate, because they are also dealing with a hormonal urge (the male as much as the female). If they are at all able to mate, they as a "couple" will find a way. You can keep them seperate...in different rooms or one inside, but don't assume they won't mate through a fence!!
Hope this helps.

Yes.. My friend has a dog thats fixed and she would tell me her male dog thats fixed is humping the other dogs.
A dog having a collar on really does not mean he is fixed...
and it depends on how many times they hooked up.. Unusally they say the first time, but definitly the second time.
I also had the same problem as you.. Took a weiner doggie in and my dog went into heat and BAM we had baby puppies last thanksgiving. and they hooked up 2 times...

well, if you go to work, and leave the two alone, I'm pretty sure you get the rest of it! the best idea, if you still have him, is to hang up "FOUND" pictures everywhere, either that or take him to the pound. And yes, if the fixed males are in the mood they will mount.

My dogs became an rather dominant alpha male guy. notwithstanding the vet reported it would end that too -_- yet what ever I do think of it is all in the dogs, and that i don't think of that any style of surgical treatment will restoration it. practise would desire to help, like if my dogs have been given like expert practise, the type it is like hundreds of greenbacks i'm particular that he would not have been as dominant, yet who is conscious. yet ya i don't think of getting your dogs fastened helps that mounting situation lol Sorry i don't probable have any "suggestion" for you. All i will say is what got here approximately to me. additionally my woman dogs that became additionally fastened fixed/humped her ultimate male friends head -_- So i don't think of it quite works for all canines.

Neutered dogs mount each other in dominance games they play to work out tension between them. Even females will mount each other if there are strange dogs around, or they haven't had exercise.

Since this is apparently an intact male that you left with your female, you can be sure he's impregnated her and she's going to have a litter of mutts.
