It was a Jewish LEADER, not the Jew's. The actual torturers were the Romans. The Jewish leader at the time had enough political pull to get Jesus killed. He was in power for longer than most in his position and was (life all who have power) afraid to lose it. Jesus was the one who claimed to be the Messiah that actually caught on. There were all kinds of people at the time that claimed to be the Messiah, for some reason or another Jesus had more influence than the others. The Jewish leader at the time was afraid of the inevitable division of the Jews if Jesus word continued to catch on and spread.

Unfortunately (for the Jews) he made Jesus in to a mart-er and killing Jesus made his word more powerful than ever.

Jesus was tortured by everyone who held Him, from the time the Temple sent their guards (Jewish, not Roman) to arrest Him. He was tortured at the High Priest's home by the guards keeping Him there. He was tortured by Herod's soldiers when they took Him there. Pilate's Roman soldiers had a couple of turns at Him while He was being held there.
It seems as if these people had a Victim, they were bored, and they were amusing themselves, waiting for the final outcome.
By this time, everyone knows that it was the Jews who cried for Jesus to be crucified, but, because they had no authority to put a man to death, they had to appeal to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor to sign the order for them, and for the Roman soldiers to do the actual grisly deed.
The rest, it would seem, is, as they say....
history....

Jesus was tortured and killed by both the Jews and the Romans. Some of the Jews might have called him a blasphemer but he was a political threat to the Romans as well. That's not the real issue though. Jesus died for EVERYBODY, to save ME and YOU. It was his choice to die for ME and YOU. So in an indirect sense I killed Jesus. You killed Jesus. And everytime someone rejects his sacrifice and love, it hurts him because he loves us all.

It was actually the Roman soldiers who scourged (tortured) Jesus at the bidding of Pilate, who thought doing so would satisfy the high priests so they would not insist on crucifixion, which it did not. The Jews are not the only ones who killed Christ. Every living, breathing person even today is responsible, for He died for the sins of all mankind.

yes, I believe the Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus. why? maybe because the Jews were expecting their Messiah to have a different appearance and to have come from a more well off family than a poor one.

Jesus was tortured by the Romans. His torture is chronicled by the Roman scribe Josephus.

If anyone blames someone else then they are not saved. We have to accept that Jesus died for us - as if we were the only person on this planet, in order to be saved.

Yes it was the Jews because they thought he was being blasphemes about Him being the Lord. They didn't believe he was the Messiah and that's why he got crucified.
