just try talking to him and asking him why he doesn't like you. If he says because I'm afraid you might hurt her, ask if there is some way to show him that you wont. If he doesn't want anything to do with you then just tell him upfront that you don't like him being so protective and that he should give you and lisa( I'm guessing thats her name) time alone. I've known guys who do that and the Dad ends up liking them better because of there courage and truthfulness.

I don't know if there's any surefire way of getting him to like you. Maybe he's like this w/ all of her bfs. Maybe he's trying to deny that his little girl is growing up. Is she the youngest in the fam ? Is she the only daughter he has ? I think that may explain it if you can say yes to either one of those Qs.
First of all, try to find some common ground. If you know that he's in to sports & you're on a sports team, maybe you can talk bout that, or any sport in gen, esp his fave sports team.
Maybe try spending time talking to him when you know that Lisa's not going to be home. Maybe that's when you can talk to him.
And 3rdly, I just don't know ... lol..

Be patient. This may continue for sometime until he starts trusting you, or he is just testing you. Nevertheless,
IGNORE his negative attitude, and remind him frequently on a polite way that you truly care about Lisa.

if you are at school, get a copy of your grade and attendant record, bring it over to lisa dad, and show him you are responsible. if your grade is a C and you do cut, very, still bring it, that way you have nothing to hide.
if you work, show him that you are putting money aside under lisa name. that should do the job

dads...... he's probably just purposely givin you a hard time. besides.. you're the other man in his daughter's life.. expect him to be at least a bit jealous. but yes.. it is important to respect him. just take it slow and dont rush things with lisa. he'll eventually see that you're foreals. i think only time can settle him now.

You'll force him to like you by marrying her. Hehehe. But then her dad would totally beat the tar out of you.

You can't make him like you. If you are treating his daughter with love, respect and kindness, his overprotectiveness is disfunctional and you can either accept it or move on.
