Religion/belief is only a THEORY, so why do people get on believers of the "theory of evolution" when religion/creation is only a THEORY itself??
Even while the evolution believers at least have an uncertainty of how it really is because much is still not known and being searched for, the religion people think they are sure they KNOW their THEORY is real when they have no "proof" other then a book says so.

True, no real evidence can or has been studied or tested, I stand corrected on the use of 'theory'...

Religion isn't a theory, it's an assumption based on faith. Theory usually has some observed evidence on which to base it's conclusions.

how many times can we say "you don't know what a theory is" I'll try it one more time...
A theory is a hypothesis generally agreed to be true because it is backed up by significant, repeatable, reliable, testable scientific evidence. However this is irrelevant when talking specifically about evolution because evolution is a proven fact. We can see how populations evolve over generations, it's been done, the results are there for anyone to check out. The theory comes into play when scientist debate which mechanism is responsible for evolution: natural selection, genetic drift, bottle necking, non-random mating, etc. A theory is not just a guess as you and your friends no doubt throw around the term. Please consider these things when thinking about evolution. I'm so tired of hearing "just a theory"

Evolution is a theory, but it is a scientific theory. the word "theory", when in the context of science, takes on a different meaning than the day-to-day word "theory". A scientific "theory" is one which has so much evidence that it is basically accepted as a fact. However, evolution is not fact.
Religion is also a theory, but it is not a scientific theory. It has no scientific basis. We know Jesus was alive in the 10's C.E. and that he was a carpenter, and that those he preached to spread his word. However, there is absolutely no scientific proof in the existence of heaven or hell.

You are wrong.
Religion is not THEORY.
A theory is defined as an explanation to observed phenomenon. That the phenomenon are occuring is a FACT.
Consider the General Theory of Relativity. We know gravity exists, and the theory was created to describe and explain gravity.
Similarly Evolution is a fact. We observe it occuring constantly. The Theory of Evolution is used to describe and explain the observations we are witnessing.
It is sad that a proponent of the scientific method / evolution is just as in the dark about scientific terms as theists.

This is where personal life experience comes in. I have had many spiritual experiences as a christian that have authenticated my faith but this is a personal thing for me. God has proved His existence to me at a personal level and I wouldn't expect you to take my word for this but there are many others who have experienced the same things that I have. No one can tell me my God doesn't exist because I know Him and He has changed my life. He has comforted me in times of distress and loved me with an unconditional love.
I guess why I sometimes point out that evolution is a theory is because in many situations I see it being taught or being projected as being rock solid fact and that is not really a claim it can support. I have no objections to people believing in the theory of evolution and I like to hear arguments etc on why they believe it but I guess I like to hear it acknowledged that it is a theory.

Actually, religion and beliefs aren't theories, but more of hypotheses. A theory has been tested and proved to be correct in many experiments and examples, and religion has never been proved or successfully tested to be valid. How could religion be put on the same level of acceptance as a genuine theory is?

It may be a theory to you. I'm sure it wasn't a theory to moses and Pharaoh. I'm sure it was no theory to Noah, No theory that the blind saw and the lame walked and the dead rose. The only thing that makes it theory to you is time, lack of faith and you were not meant to know.
Only remnant chosen by grace, It is to them we speak.
To the unsaved it should seem foolishness.
Eyes to see and ears to hear are for the chosen.

Errr... scientific theories are different from regular theories. Atomic Theory, Theory of Gravity... there's no doubt about any of them, but they're all theories. The word has a different meaning in science than in everyday use.

Religion isn't a theory, kiddo. Religion is the organization of a bunch of believers.
The theory of evolution SUPPOSES that we evolved from lesser life forms.
Hugely different.

I always tell people who give the "only a theory" response to go jump off a tall building.
after all, gravity is "only a theory" and it's therefore "only a theory" that they will go SPLAT.
funny, never had a creationist take me up on that.
apparently, at some level, they know that this kind of argument is incredibly stupid.
