Adam & Eve had children but who did their children breed with to make more people?

Often, apparent inconsistencies can be resolved if we just look at the context. Consider, for example, the often-raised problem about Cain’s wife. As is well known, Cain killed Abel; but after that, we read that Cain had a wife and children. (Genesis 4:17) If Adam and Eve had only two sons, where did Cain find his wife?

Where did Cain get his wife? Is there a logical Bible answer?

Yes, there is. It is pointed to in the very instructions given to Adam and Eve shortly after their creation, namely: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it.” Gen. 1:28.

Obedience to this command would require that Adam and Eve have children. Then these children, in turn, would marry and bear children. This process of reproduction by succeeding generations would need to continue in order to fill the earth in harmony with God’s purpose.

The solution lies in the fact that Adam and Eve had more than two children. According to the context, they had a large family. At Genesis 5:3 we read that Adam became father to another son named Seth and then, in the following verse, we read: “He became father to sons and daughters.” (Genesis 5:4) So Cain could have married one of his sisters or even one of his nieces.

At that early stage of human history, when mankind was so close to perfection, such a marriage evidently did not pose the risks for the children of the union that it would today.

It is probable that, while yet alive, Abel had sisters; the record mentions the birth of daughters to his parents, but their names are not recorded. (Ge 5:1-4)

Cain went into banishment in “the land of Fugitiveness to the east of Eden,” taking with him his wife, an anonymous daughter of Adam and Eve. (Ge 4:16, 17) also the much later example of Abraham’s marriage to his half sister Sarah.

Why does this question get asked so much? For those who believe the Adam and Eve story as a blow by blow description of actual events leading up to the fall of man, they believe that they interbred....
It seems more logical to me to believe that God created a small group of people, men and women....as it seems to say in Genesis 1, and that Genesis 2 is more of a parable concerning the actual fall of man.
To think it was all over an actual piece of fruit is a bit silly, but it would make more sense if the fruit were acutually of the spiritual variety...say "greed"..."selfishness"..."lust"
"Evil of the heart"...what a thing to introduce into a Garden of Innocence, and what good sense it would make, NOT to let men live forever in the kind of world we have created since we have discovered "good and evil".
At least, those are my thoughts....

Most of these answers seem close. We look at it through our eyes (eck! gross.), but think about it. I have not read one answer that told me how long they were in the garden before they sinned. ! day, 1 Year, 10 years, 100 years, a century? I don't know. Before they sinned they were perfcet (yes!), but they were more than that. They did not age, or die, or get ill, or WEAR CLOTHES!, or work. AS a matter of fact God told Eve as part of her sin .......
"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;
with pain you will give birth to children.

Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you." Genesis 3:16

This tells me 2 things. First, she had kids without pain before. For how long? I don't know! How many? I don't know! And secondly, she was not ONLY for her husband, hence "Your desire will be for your husband."

Gross? Yes, according to us. There was no sin before the because God only told them not to do one thing! Eat from the tree in the middle of the garden. So figure that out if you dare, but I will assume that yes while they lived like that, that was his will and that is how we mutiplied in the first place. and if you think about it are we not all of Adam and Eve STILL!

And I will back my brother "icheeknows" up and agree that while I beilieve your faith is being tested here, you need to search inside yourself a little further! KEep going because Jesus is Lord!

Back then they lived to 100s of years old, and the family scattered, but I think they married each other then, If you think about it, its the same today, If Adam and Eve were the only 2 on earth, we are still Brothers and sisters, but very distant.

The standard answer is that they married and reproduced with one another; since Adam and Eve were genetically perfect, apparently there was no problem with brother & sister making babies.

That is, if you believe that sort of thing.

Cain took one of sisters out with him. Able was dead. They had several more children that were with each other. God told them to be fruitful and multiply. That was all before there was such a thing as in-breeding.

you guys are so skewed. Where does it say that this creation was the first, where does it say everything written is in chronological order, where does it say that the garden was on earth. This whole line of reasoning is so senseless. If you do not want to believe no one is going to force you. get with the program and look inside and ask yourself why is it you feel so insecure, who is it you really want attention from. You look really pathetic by your questions. If you are interested in the script figure out the message cuz that is why it was written.
