I'd like to know if they can be excercised like other muscles, to improve them. I know we use them all the time, but that doesn't make them really strong. We have a saying about the eyes, but a saying is a saying.

Depending on your problem tho.... if you don't need medical attention and its more of a normal vision problem.... you might want to try researching "Honey". I've never used it myself but I have a good friend who uses a mixture of Honey and water. He claims to have gotten the idea from studying at the library looking for home remedies for his eyes. Honey (he says) has many properties that encourages the cells in our eyes to regenerate/rejuvenate...but you must be sure to use "Unfermented" honey. The fermented honey does not work as well and the darker the honey...the better it is...being its supposed to have more nutrients and stuff.
At first application, he said his eyes burned but he kept applying one to two drops to both eyes, two to three times a day and in about 5 days, it stopped hurting as much and he was able to read and see a whole lot better without the use of his eye glasses or his reading glasses.
So I suggest that you do some research before trying it but this is the best advice I can give about anything other than eating more veggies or using glasses.
Good luck
Its been months if not a year already since he's tried this honey water thing and I have not seen him with his glasses since and I see him almost everyday.

Sorry, no you can‘t. Think of a camera, the lens and the film and the
distance from one to the other. A shortsighted person has a lens that
focuses in front of the film, therefore out of focus. A longsighted person has a lens that focuses behind the film, also out of focus.
Therefore surgery for the shortsighted is to make the lens weaker
and throw the focus onto the film plane. This is done by computer
controlled instruments that flatten the curvature of the lens and the
image is thrown back into focus with film. And vice-versa for the
long sighted. To correct the shortsighted (myopia) is easier than
long sighted. It is painless and worthwhile for those who have
high correction lenses. I use the similarity with a camera since
it is easier to explain and to understand.

Look up the bates method, can't find the book so can't give you the ISBN no. you can also buy pinhole glasses which make the eye muscles work. with both these methods you need to put in time & don't expect something to happen within a week. Good Luck!

You can try eye doing exercises to improve your vision. I recently started doing eye exercises to try to improve my vision. I created a blog where I record my progress with the exercises.
I haven't seen any improvement as yet, but other people (who have experienced improvements) also post comments about their experiences as well. You can check it out at: http://improvingmyeyesight.com/blog
Good luck
