if all bones in general cut throats, then wolfs would have died off thousands of years ago. it's only cooked bones you haveto worry about.

ok the person who said anything but chocolate is a moron. Just give your dog dog food and keep her on a steady diet of it. that will keep your dog healthy. If you want to give her some raw eggs every now and then that will help make the coat shiney but really that just starts a round of what about this. So dog food same kind all the time

Wow, what a neat dog! It could be that she's alive so long because of all the different vitamins and minerals in all the different foods she eats. (My cat is somewhat the same way, although she's not as old.) I would say whatever you're doing, that's great except for chocolate or booze. LOL!! Ask your vet, she can advise the best vitamins/minerals/care for your geriatric pet.

>>>>>>>>>No bones ever!! No raw meat ever. No grapes,,onions,,garlic,,nitrate such as in hotdogs,,no chocolate,,no milk. They eat grass when they have an upset stomach & its ok.No fried foods,,no spicy,,no sugar,,no salt for older dogs,,no raw veggies,,
Dogs diet should be dry dog food that is 100% nutritionally complete.Add some can dog food,,biscuit after to clean teeth.
Dogs can also eat rice with boiled meat such as boneless chicken or liver or beef.Be sure to cool completely.Doggie vitamins are also a good idea.Feel free to e-mail me with any dog questions.

well except for the cooked chicken and liver, pretty much nothing on that list. but, considering she is 17 years old there isnt much reason to change now. she sounds like old age is starting to catch up with her. just try to keep her away from the chicken and pork[if she gets any] bones because they splinter and will tear her insides up. good luck

well don't give her chicken cause the bones easily spliter and can get stuck in her throat...i would try and not giving her too much human food cause it can shorten they life span, some human food they can have is carrots(freeze them for a summer time snack) cut up meat with no bones, and dog food.

I found a great site that I've used for my dog but is actually lab specific. You'll find at least one article on food here. Good luck!

Wow! Seventeen years old! If he or she was younger I would say stick to dog food. People food tends to make them gain weight faster not to mention not great on their digestive system.
