There is no evidence to show that Australopithecines had any type of art or burial practices, they typically abandoned the dead, or another theory is that the dead would leave the troop (much like many chimpanzees and japanese macaques do) in old age in order to not slow the group down. It's hard to say, but I am definitely interested in what new theories are thought up with the discovery of the 3 year old Australopithecus afarenis brings up!

Australopithecus was just barely using tools, and the tools weren't much more advanced than what you see with the other great apes. I think Neanderthals were the first hominids with evidence of ritual behavior.

I have tried to think about being there 3 million years ago. I think any animal is in fear of many things. But to wish for luck seems to me to be universal even for a jack rabbit and there are many things that can from just luck especially when living from hand to mouth become very special OR god like.
Remember the movie Clan of the cave bear It makes sense to me. (Jean Auel) It may not have been Australopithecus but the concept is still valid even today.
Answer! YES. maybe even earlier.

I had the impression they were rather lacking of intelligence to create religion. I remember them as being an intermediary between the ape-like ancestor of man and the Homo sapien.

I'm not really old enough to be able to answer that question. I don't think anyone else here is, either.

comment as intelligently as possible.
