The woman who modeled for the Mona Lisa was the wife of one of Da Vinci's neighbors. They know she did give birth and had at least three children. But as to whether or not she was either pregnant or had just given birth when she posed for the painting no one really knows for sure.

Does not make a difference to me but it would shoot holes all in the theory that Da Vinci did a self portrait one in femme form when he painted the Mona Lisa.
