The wages in Mexico are so low, so to them the American minimum wage is a huge blessing. It's really the corrupt Mexican government's fault that there are illegal immigrants from Mexico, for not creating decent jobs there....not to mention the greedy American businesses who hire illegals for peanuts and cheap labor, and then those sneaky Republican politicians who use "race" and immigration as an issue to get certain racist voters to vote for them, but then when they get elected they care for no one but the greedy American businesses who keep on hiring illegals... and it becomes a vicious, never ending cycle.

Ignorant people!! immigrants pay taxes too, and do the jobs that most Americans won't do, at least not for what they get paid, they don't take away anything from Americans, they don't "steal" from starving Americans, in this country there are many opportunities, it isn't the immigrants fault that many legal citizens don't take advantage of these and prefer to be starving , and those "BILLIONS OF DOLLARS" are NOTHING compared to all the money illegal immigrants produce for the nation, if it wasn't for them everything would cost much more, because American labor would be much more expensive, and the only reason they don't register to be citizens is because they CAN'T (you should do some research before coming and giving such answer) that is why many immigrants have been participating in protests so that government would pass a law that would allow them to be legalized. I am telling you people DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE MAKING A FOOL OUT OF YOURSELVES!
And yeah, unfortunately those are the reasons for Illegal immigration, great summary. Let's not think of this as "Americans" but as Human beings, everyone deserves to eat at least one meal a day, and if this country has the chance to give that to more people, why not? It's the XXI century people, let's not be so racists please.

There is a saying i Know what it means now.STEALING A LIVING.It means taking more than you need because you can, even though it will never be used for any benifit other than to store wealth you can never use.The poor know this only too well as they seek to make a living and find minimum wage means maximum effort and stress. Why would a man leave his highland home to work in a mill 14 hours a day and live in slum?IHunger starvation thats why. There is nothing cheap about Labour,it will cost alot of souls who caused it.I walked in park near my home named after some mill owner who died left it to the people of the city over 100 years ago.The people that work for him lived in poverty and ill health and he pay off the men as the women and kids can be paid less.Do you think that park will buy him place in heaven?I say he should have looked after the people that MADE HIM HIS LIVING and did not steal it, while he was alive.Whether a man comes down from a mountain or walks thousand miles to make a living should not be the issue. We should all ask ourselves.Am i stealing or making a living.

That is just an excuse. And we should not have to be punished for the mexican governments issues. Americans lose a lot of money providing for boarder jumpers. Yes, it is not their fault. But its not ours either.

And most of them are not even planning to live here permanently or abide by our laws, that is proven by them not obeying the laws to come here. Some of them just want to be here for a year or so and work so that they can go back there and live well off for a while then do it over again a few years later.

it is never a good idea to place the blame on anyone else but the person committing the crime. which is exactly what you are doing. it would be like saying that it is not the bank robbers fault that he held the bank and all the people inside hostage, trying to rob it. it was his parents fault because he had a bad childhood,oh and maybe it was also the governments fault for releasing him from prison from a previous conviction too soon and not properly rehabilitating him. anytime you make it someone else's fault and do not hold the law breaker responsible for his actions, you end up encouraging the behavior and making it more likely to occur again and again.

Sadly, NO... I understand that there are problems in Mexico, but we as a nation have bailed out the Mexican Government several times in the last 20 years. They need to drag themselves out of the corruption and morass they are in.

Among your "reasons"... lets not forget the groups that seek to populate the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, & Texas with Mexican citizens... and then vote themselves back into Mexico.

Nope. It is not an excuse to sneak into a country and steal money that that country rightfully needs for their own citizens. We have starving Americans that need their government to take care of them. I am sorry that the Mexican government is corrupt but I can't sit by and watch our school system fall apart because of lack of funding when my GIVE BILLIONS of dollars a year to illegal immigrants to have free babies, free food, and free houses. I don't have health insurance. I can't go to the hospital for free if I get the flu. I pay taxes for other people to go to the hospital every time they cough.

NO no excuses!!!!

Amnesty won't work!!! Read your history books!!

It's easy to blame poverty on evil people, but I'd like to ask you to read a book I think you'll find enlightening. It's called "The End of Poverty" by Jefrey Sachs. He's a distinguished economist, not some dreamer. He is, among other things, a professor at Columbia University, which lured him away from Harvard. His biggest fan is the entertainer Bono, Lead singer for U2, who is, or was, one of his students. Professor Sachs founded an organization called Millennium Promise, which has a website at www.millenniumpromise.org. Be sure to spell millennium right. I didn't the first time. But the book is much better. Millennium Promise recently got a $50 million pledge from George Soros. Bono has founded an organization called One, which has quickly gained over 2 million supporters. His website is www.ONE.org.

Your explanation hits it on the nose. Also we just lost it all, when I became an immigrant 50 years ago it took me 4 years of waiting before I could get a visa to come in. No one in those days came in illegally, it was too darn hard. My neighbor in Europe was interviewed to make sure I was not a communist. Imagine that. Then after lung Xrays (you could not have TB either) and my country's allowed number came up then I could come in and get the green card.

The reason for illegal immigration is the individual themselves. They become illegal because they choose not to register to become citizens. No registration, no rights for them. Kick them out or arrest them upon finding them. Stack them up like a rick of firewood in a smelly jailhouse. That way they'll feel right at home until we send them back with the threat of prison with no release if they get caught again.
