You have known each for three years so the foundation is there and both parties know that there is interest in the other person. The last thing you want to exert external pressure on the relationship by getting to serious to fast.

To start out I recommend that you do something that will allow the two of you to have fun and you can learn something about each other at the same time. I personally use board games.

Fib or Not would be a great icebreaker, it can give you insight into a person that you might not get otherwise.

At the start of the relationship, you are trying to gather information the best way to do it is in a relaxing setting where a person let their guard down.

Eventually you can move on to more mature topics.
