I have a pretty good ideal, your new puppy will need three scheduled series of mandatory Rabbi, parvo and distemper shots, then follow ups, I think about every two years You might want to call your local animal shelter, a lot of times, shelters have discount prices as well as spay and neuter packages for less than half the price of a vet. more so, you can get an Identification chip for your pet(which I strongly suggest) to up the chance of retrieval if it gets loose or runs away. In Arizona, the law demands that your dog have a Rabbi shot and tag which is recorded and monitored by the state. Parvo is at epidemic stages here in Arizona and is a fast dog killer. You should make sure your new friend is protected and that is what your vet or shelter will do for you. Hope this helps :)

The vet will give your little dog his much needed shots and probably a check up,too. Make sure you get the required number of booster shots for your puppy, so that he will be safe from disease. A 7 disease fighting shot is only a few bucks, anywhere from 3 to 8 dollars. You have to vaccinate them yourself, but it's not hard to do. Being poor is no excuse not to vaccinate a dog.

The vet will probably start with the first series of shots. There is nothing wrong with your pup, he just got a late start on his/her vaccinations. As long as he is healthy, you should have nothing to worry about.
]Now if it was an adult dog, that is a different story. Depending on what state you live in, like Ohio for instance, the dog must be vaccinated for parvo and rabies right then, or surrendered to the vet. It's the law.
Most likely, they will just vaccinate your pup, give you some literature on raising and caring for your pup and send you on your way. Good luck.

When we adopted our puppy at 16 weeks she had not had any shots either. The vet gave her a total of three sets of puppy shots to "catch her up" and then we went to yearly boosters. The vet also "dewormed" her with the banana flavored medication even though she tested negative for worms. He said it was good practice. We started her on heartworm prevention that day, and she is a happy and healthy three year old dog today who has not been sick a day in her life (knock on wood!)

Vaccinations are bad for you and your dog!
A vaccinated person/dog is MORE likely to get a disease than a non-vaccinated person/dog. The whole theory of vaccination is flawed. It causes a weakening of the immune system thus making those who are innoculated more susceptible to disease.
There are so many awful side effects to vaccination that it should be considered extremely dangerous.
Just sit back and think for a while.
Is there any sense in injecting a disease directly into your bloodstream.
We have been subjected to an awful mind control program to enable the drug manufacturers to make a fortune.

Go to vet.
The vet will check out the dog and run tests.
Then most likely give it some shots and have you make your next future appiontment.
