Let's break this down. First of all hair is just one of the batlles...there are bed linens, pillows and furniture upholstery to spray, as well as all of the carpet in your house. Don't forget to spray the mattress when you wash your linens. Also a lot of people will do everything in their house and forget about their car upholstery. Make sure you do jackets, sweaters etc...anything that you had on or laid somewhere that touched something else.
Now lets talk about your hair...if it's long, then buy 2 bottles of the shampoo. You may even want to shampoo 2 times with 2 bottles but I will stress the importance of doing everything else in the house that I just talked about in the beginning of this answer. It can become very expensive and time consuming. Oh, if you have a dog or birds as pets, they are capable of carrying lice. Cats do not carry lice. Hope this helps you and good luck.

Dear N.
Minimum 2 Weeks.
Even if you use the chemical mousse/liquid stuff they sell in the chemist . You will still need to do comb throughs every 2 days for a fortnight.
Lice have a complicated lifecycle, and they will walk from one head to another so you have to do the whole household at the same time.
Essential supplies for long hair comb throughs:
4 combs: wide toothed ,medium toothed, fine toothed, and also
A nit comb
Conditioner. (tiny elastics so you can plait each section after you've double combed it)
Try looking it up on the web there a number of good sites and they all say that comb through is the only way to go.
They also explain the life cycle .
P.S. lice stay on your hair (any body hair) and are attracted to body warmth and moisture.
They don't live on fabrics/furniture you don't need to fumigate everything:
Don't trust me-check the websites!!!!

You get an anti-lice treatment.
There are several, Rid, A200, etc.
They can be found in the drug section of WalMart, KMart, Walgreens, etc.
You can get sprays for pillows, jackets, furniture, etc.
FOLLOW the instructions.
Usually bedding, clothing and such should be laundered and all brushes and combs should be disinfected to keep from reinfestation.
