My grandmother ate moldy cheese all the time. She used to say, "This is how I get my penicillin". I know that it is not true but nothing happened to her and she lived until she was 92. I do not have a problem eating moldy cheese but my wife wouldn't touch it. Buon Appetite

Food Poisoning From Cheese

No. Nothing. Cheese is afterall, moldy milk. It is perfectly acceptable to scrape the top layer off the cheese and munch away. No worries

Yep, regular cheese, like Chedder, Swiss, Provolone. It's fine. Food poisoning is called by bacteria and/or parasites. Not by mold.

Cut off 1/2 inch from the molded part of any cheese and the rest is good to go. The worst thing that could happen is nothing the first couple of times but if you don't remove the mold and the little bit around it, the toxins can add up. The mold's toxins are carcinogenic (cancer causing), so no immediate reaction, but it's not good to ingest. Cutting the molded parts of + alittle more to get all the "roots" and residual toxins should be good enough though.

Because its a kind of mold that is safe for us to digest. All cheese has a mold factor. Thats how it becomes cheese. Yogurt too. The problem with moldy bread is that its a type of mold that can cause illness.

It depends on if you are sensitive to mold. Some people are allergic to types of mold, and must avoid certain cheeses.

I get sick to my stomach, and lower. I lose weight when I get that sick. (It is a painful way to lose weight, and I gain it right back.)

Some people might actually develop a rash, or a headache.

I don't recommend eating food that has spoiled.

Ever heard of Penicillin? That's what mold is! If you have your cheese in a hunk, you can cut away from the mold 1 inch and still eat the rest of the cheese.
