Sounds like me, 43 and single. Since I am particular about what I get, I usually ask for a gift certificate to pick out my own gift. I am into workworking, so a gift card to Lowes or Home Depot fills the bill for me. Hope I could help.

Dinner is nice, but I'm thinking something like music- a cd/concert tickets, something for his car or truck that whenever he reaches for it he will think of you, maybe a card to be cashed in for whatever, like a massage/back rub/bubble bath/sex . I'm 47 and I can tell ya, it doesn't have to be much. The thought will mean more than the gift. He's a lucky man.

Movie tickets in a popcorn bucket - they are selling buckets that look like what you buy in the theater at the grocery store. They have microwave popcorn in the bottom of it and you put the whole thing in the microwave. My husband got the bucket with tickets and boxes of candy as a gift. He loved it. :) Another thing you can do is find out what their favorite candy is and buy that and wrap tickets for a local play or gift certificate for a restuarant. Best of luck!

Something simple like a nice bottle of wine to share with him along with your good company. I have reached an age where I no longer want for much or need anything really, but sitting around the table with friends and family regaling one another with stories.

Try a nice mug (maybe one of those travel mugs) and a bag of his favorite coffee beans... a grinder too (if he doesn't already have one)..or have them ground for him....and maybe some coffee syrup...in hazlenut maybe? Or, you can buy coffee liquer (Starbucks has a brand for about $30) to go with the present.. if he drinks. Wrap it all up in cellophane and a nice bow and a funny card..guys like funny cards...not sappy ones.

If you can cook, then you might make his favorite dish or cake. If not, try to look for something he truely doesn't have or that he collects. For example maybe he is a football fan get him something with his favorite teams logo on it, or maybe he would like a backscratcher. Look for something he might like but would probably never buy for himself.
