What Jesus meant by the heaven and earth will pass away is that the old order of things pertaining to the religions etc on earth and in heaven will pass away but his words will never pass away or inother words his words will always remain the same.

If you read the ENTIRE chapter, then you would understand that Jesus is explaining to His disciples the signs of the ending of times and what will happend upon His return. He is saying to mark His word, what He is saying is real and will happen just the way He is saying it will happen and when it starts to happen, people will know He is coming and the end of time is near. It is not to be taken literal, but to mean that it will happen just as He says it will happen and that will never change no matter how much time passes on earth. Things will happen in the matter He has prophesied

if you take the words for what they say then yes, both heaven and earth...at some point will die. I think what it is ment to imply is that an idea/concept/belief (ect.) will never die so long as people remember it. Even long after the "founder" of an idea/concept (ect) dies people will remember it and have faith in it. I think the passage was ment to be uplifting...you know...no matter what Jesus (or whoever you believe in) will always be there...even if the world ends.

well heavens back then were looked at as what we call outerspace. so perhaps he meant the universe will pass away. cause if heaven is eternal like stated in the bible perhaps this was translated/interpreted wrong and not really the heaven with angels and god but the heavens being the stars and space.

Revelation Chapter 20 speaks of a new heaven and a new earth.
Don't forget that God is a God of creation and the immensity of our future in this new heaven cannot be comprehended.
