I am making my family cookbooks for Christmas, the only problem is, I don't know how to put the pages together. I don't want to put them in a binder. I want it to look professional. Thanks for any advice.

Take them to a quick copy or small printer.. as to have them wire bound or spiral bound... it will cost you about $3 per book depending on the saize of the finished book... this will be mush nice looking than a binder.. and it will lay flat for the user, which is far better than any other type of binding..

Go tot the Dollar store and get inexpensive loose leaf binders. Or, look into those metal Brads or buttons. There are also plastic ring bindings that some print shops do for few dollars (three to five dollars not $30). I hope you are giving your family tested recipes. If you don't know for sure whether or not they'll work, it could be a disaster.

You should forget professional and go for practical.
Put your pages into plastic pockets and those into a ring binder.
That way you can have them beside you whike cooking without smudging the pages. You can still make a very nice cover for the whole thing.

Another method would be laminating the pages and fixing them with a spiral binder.

There is a website that will do this for you. I think it is heritage.com. You join and then all of your family members can log on and enter in their recipes. Your family is allowed to enter recipes for a certain period of time. When the period is over all your family recipes are made into books, you order however many you want and they show up on your door. You design your recipe pages, your family members design theirs. The one who joins the site and starts the thing designs the cover. My girlfriend is doing it with her family for Christmas.
