They like to be close to their human mommy & daddy. My cats don't like to be close to my face (probably because of snoring!). My cat always sleeps in the bed by my legs then follows me when I get up.

They really just want to lay next to you and the way you are laying that spot happens to be convienent. Lay a different way.
