advantage for kittens helps..but something to get rid of them right away..you can buy a Capster Pill from a vet..it costs between $1 to $2 it kills fleas instantly..so you would want to put kitty in a room (ie: bathroom) where you could easily clean the fleas up..it only takes about 15 min to get all the fleas off too.

whatever you do DO NOT put a flea collar or give a kitten a flea bath..it could make your kitty seriously ill or even kill it.

Good luck fleas suck!

I've never heard of baby shampoo getting rid of fleas, but I do know that Head n' Shoulders is very effective with getting rid of them. Considering your little kitty is only 6 weeks old i would use a very very small amount. And rinse with lots of water, too make sure his fur is clean of the shampoo. It may irritate his skin if it's not. BUT you really should take him to the vets for shots and stuff and have them treat the fleas alot of flea medicines are NOT reccomended for kittens only 6 weeks old.

I have always gotten rid of fleas on kittens with just a flea comb and a lot of combing. Be prepared to crush the fleas with your thumb nail on the teeth of the comb as you are combing. They are very fast so take your time and be sure you get them all . Fleas like to hid behind the back of the head and at the base of the tail. If you comb your kitten for several days and keep him inside you'll get rid of the fleas without the trauma of a bath. You'll also bond wwith your kitty, they love combing(they hate baths).

CAT Flea powder (it's very different than Dog powder. Dog powder must NEVER be used on a cat). Dust well (not in eyes), preferably out of doors because fleas will jump off. vaccuum carpets well to pick up eggs that may be there.
repeat dusting etc. every 5 -6 days to get newly hatched fleas.

Also, go thru cats hair, look for tiny dots of stuff. Some of this is eggs. Crush between thumb nails.

I"m a Texan, can't help with the Vet. You can give the kitten a bath in warm water using baby shampoo and then keep it warm until it dries. The shampoo wont hurt them and the soapy part of it will destroy the membrane around a flea's body.....which will kill it.

a good bath with lots of fine tooth combing to get the eggs that are attached to the hair. You might try a duluted amount of shampoo from the pet store. If the kitten is in your home, there is a good chance you'll need to clean your house real well also.

I like the bath with baby shampoo idea... or use a mild bar type soap like Ivory. Just be careful around the eyes, nose, mouth and ears, and rinse good so it doesn't irritate the skin.
