In the US, you cannot move out at 17 without your parents permission except in very limited cases. To move out legally at 17 without your parents' permission, you would have to go to court and be legally emancipated, or declared a legal adult by the Judge. Not every state offers emancipation, however.

Even if your state offers emancipation, there are standards that you have to meet in order to be emancipated. First of all, you have to prove that you can support yourself fully on your own. This means food, shelter, and all basic necessities. The court will want to see that you can support yourself yourself, not with a roommate paying half the bills.

It depends on what state you are in. Maybe states have different laws. There is a process called Emancipation that you can go through. It involves going through the court and takes roughly 6 weeks. If you are almost 18 I would suggest waiting it out.

As an adult, I suggest these questions to direct to yourself: (1). Am I being abused in any way for me to consider this, (2) Who or where can give me the information on the laws of a minor ( age requirement for the state to be emanicipated, (3) If I am able to leave (legally), get my high school diploma/GED, (4). do I have the income to support myself and where to leave..- There are alot of questions to ask yourself. Mental maturity, independence,self-preservation, ambition......etc. Think before you act. There is help out there and if your decision is to leave home, make sure you have the right and responsible contacts. Be careful!

it will depend on the state, most do not allow it without permission of your parents till 18. Some allow it at 17.

But you still can not sign a legal contract untill you are 18

Yeah, If you are emancipated, or you got a place to go. Dont get in trouble with the law though. I moved out when I was 16, everything was good untill I got arrested. Be good!

Depends on what State of the U.S. you are residing- but its probably not a good idea unless you have abusive parents. Here in La. you can petition the court to "emancipate" you from your parents- make sure you have a safe haven before embarking on any getaway!

It depends on where you live. In Alberta, you are legal to move out at 16. I am not sure of the law in other provinces. You can go to www.qp.gov.ab.ca, and try and research it.

probably but it might be hard to get a lease because you arent a legal adult and even if your state allows people under the age of 18 to rent because the landlord can choose to rent only to those 18 and up or even 21 and up. if you dont have any credit it might also be hard and working a job might be hard if you are going to school but rent has to be paid! and DONT DROP OUT OF SCHOOL!
