Volvo switches are problematic but they are reasonably easy to replace. The motors rarely fail. If you can pull the switch cluster out try switching one of the other switches with the drivers side switch and see if that solves the problem. The window and sunroof switches are widely available in junkyards everywhere.

I actually have the same problem on my Volvo with the passenger window. I think its an electrical problem.

But my sunroof is manual.

okay this is a shot not knowing the model and all.
the window regulators get dried out on the pivot points worse in dry
conditions,at times the 10mm bolts come loose too
that hold the assembley to the door mount

First try to spray silicone spray in window trac and see if it helps,
the window switch just replace it,contacts are worn these can be cleaned ,,but just replace them

Notorious for electrical issues, Volvos are. Have your mechanic check the fuies and wiring.

you need to lube the guides every so often, especially the sunroof

candies ma has the excellent answer, but i have found that lubing with silicone dielectric paste [from 3m] works better and lasts longer it does not stain or attract moisture and it stays where you put it.[no drips]
