As far as health-wise....yes because Teflon has LOTS of chemicals and toxic compounds in the non-stick surface that eventually get cooked/scratched out into your food.

Now as far as cooking, they're much easier to cook with because they dont' require so much stirring/supervision.

I'd go with the stainless steel myself. Better yet, get a set that are made of surgical grade stainless and have layers of copper/etc WITHIN them to help even out the heat and cook better.

Absolutely!
Good stainless is not an inexpensive item, but will outlast several teflon sets over your lifetime. You can easily spend upward to $1500 or so for a good set. I paid nearly $1000 for mine some 25 years ago. Shop around and you will find there are many such good sets with anywhere from 25 years to lifetime warranties. On the plus side is that many of these sets are also open stock, so you can purchase a starter set and then add to it as you need. I use a brand called Scanpan. Bella Cosa, Henckels as well as others make good gookware.
For the interested, a 9 piece stainless Scanpan set can be purchased at this link for about $300. An excellent buy.

Teflon is a known carcinogenic, I sure wouldn't want to cook
with it and besides you need special utensils to use with
teflon so as not to scratch it. Stainless steel is the better choice
however you need to be careful of warping. Cast iron however
is the better than both as it holds the heat and is ideal for stir
frying and you can just stick it in the oven too and use it for
baking or just to keep a food item warm. Tomato sauce for
spaghetti is better in a stainless pot. Hope this answers your
question.

Stainless is the way to go. I know people think cleaning can be a hassle, but with cleansers like Bon Ami and Cameo, cleaning is never a hassle. Teflon pans tend to be coated with the non-stick surface and also tend to be aluminum based. Aluminum has been thought to contribute to Alzheimer's disease. If you're going to use coated cookware, know the base materials that have been coated. Of course most just boast their ability to cook without sticking, shying away from advertising their aluminum base.
On this note, you should also try to use deodorants that are aluminum free. Aluminum also causes nerve damage.
Although your question is Stainless as opposed to Teflon, Teflon is only a non stick coating and typically is found to be on Aluminum based cookware.

Oh gosh YES!!! Teflon actually begins to flake off if you dont use the appropriate temperature to cook, and that gets in your food.. VERY BAD !!!! Stainless steel are awesome! They provide a more even heat, and they are not going to go to pieces on you like teflon..

Teflon - health implications
Steel - everything tends to stick to the pan when cooking
Glass - easy care, good for heat distribution
Cast Iron - easy care, good heat distribution, surfaces tend to rust if not treated properly
Copper - tends to warp after a while, poor heat distribution

Now guess which I use.

Teflon has been implicated in some health problems. They say copper bottom pans are best for conducting heat, and safety. Avoid aluminum pans.
