what kind of water? bottle water? either way, yes especially if direct sunlight. but it take a while for the mold/bacteria to grow unless the seal was broken and set back into the shelf

well, I am sure if bacteria can get into the water, and then grow, that will cause the water to go bad. But overall, it isn't possible. Since if you think about it, water has always been recycle since the start of time.
