Luck. twist would be like change. So it means, e.g. you are to be smashed by a 140mph bullet train, but a commuter pushes you out of the way and is instead smeared onto the train tracks.
Turn of the tide would be something similar to twist of fate. Basically its just something that is changed. Like my example above. You were supposed to die, not the commuter, but then he/she is so heroic that they lose their lives in saving yours. Thus, this would be a twist of fate.

twist of fate simply means - you were destined for some occurrence but for some strange reason whatever the future was to be, it has changed.a good example is a prisoner on death row who at the 11th hour before his execution is told that the death sentence is not going thru again. Maybe due to some legal issue, maybe new evidence had come to light or even pardon. This could be for good or bad. Its just basically change made in whatever foreseable plans due to arrising unforeseable circumstances.

when luck either turns goes away or all of a sudden is in your favor. Get it? At first it looks as if it is destined to be this way and then it "twists" to look the opposite
