If you only lift 2-3 times a week, make sure you work the entire body. I got the most gains, however, when I split my workout cycle into three days: three muscle groups for a day, then three others, and then a day of rest. Also try aiming for 5 sets of 5 reps to build more size and raw strength. Finally, make sure your whey protein powder is mostly protein, as a lot of powders have a lot of sugar or fat.
