sleight of hand means a trick. It origininated from card tricks or those shell games when the magician would distract you with what was going on in one hand while pulling a trick with the other, thus a sleight of hand.

Sleight is an old word meaning cleverness or skill. So cleverness of hand. It is the set of techniques used by a magician or a card shark to manipulate objects such as cards and coins secretly.

Its when the hand is quicker than the eye. People doing card/magic tricks have sleight of hand. Someone stealing your watch off your wrist (it happens) would have sleight of hand

it's a magician's ability to perform certain tricks a sleight of hand ability doesn't preexist it's developed.but i've also heard of it for card players cheating.
